11 stycznia 2018 roku Wicestarosta Powiatu Żarskiego Małgorzata Issel uczestniczyła w spotkaniu opłatkowym z członkami Koła Związku Sybiraków w Żarach. Z rąk Prezesa Koła Józefa Seńków i Prezesa Zarządu w Zielonej Górze Wacława Mandryk odebrała Honorową Odznakę Sybiraka przyznaną postanowieniem Prezesa Zarządu Głównego Związku Sybiraków.

Uczniowie Szkoły Podstawowej nr 1 brawurowo odegrali scenki przedstawienia jasełkowego a wspólne kolędowanie i życzenia przy łamaniu się opłatkiem podkreśliły wyjątkową atmosferę wieczoru.
